Has advertising lost its effectiveness? According to a recent study consumer resistance has reached an all time high, causing marketing productivity to plummet and PR budgets to take a big hit.
One-third of respondents to a Yankelovich Partners study said they hate advertising so much they would slightly lower their standard of living to live in a society without marketing or advertising.
While ad budgets are up an average of six percent (fueled by increased pay for click advertising) PR budgets reportedly are down by the same percentage, according to a study released last week by the USC Annenberg Strategic Public Relations Center.
