A new report from the website security service Incapsula says that the majority of traffic to websites in 2014 came not from humans, but from bots that automatically browse websites for purposes that are frequently malicious. For most websites, the report says, bot traffic is between 63 and 80%.
Bad Bots Threaten Big and Small Sites Alike
Large and small sites consistently experience traffic approximately 30% of traffic from malicious bots. The average percentage of bad bots is consistently hovering around the 30 percent mark, regardless of website size or popularity. In absolute terms, Incapsula believes that malicious bot traffic grows generally in proportion to a site’s human traffic.
