RSS ad network Pheedo has released “Pheed Read” No 1, a report on when and how people who subscribe to RSS feeds use them. Among the conclusions: “RSS is growing up; Reader data illustrates shift from early adopters to mainstream.”
_ Tuesday is the most active day in RSS for viewership, feed retrieval and click-throughs; Saturday least active; Wednesday is ssecond best, with an average 22 percent differential from Tuesday;
_ “Morning scanners” view most content; late night readers click through more.
_ There is a significant spike in RSS readership during the early morning daypart, which tails off as the day goes on.
The data seems to indicate that people who subscribe to RSS feeds check them first thing in the morning, the way people used to read newspapers.
