The video is all glitz and no substance. Yes people are using the internet in huge numbers. And yes they are using the sites and services on the internet in huge numbers. But after to catchy song and big numbers flash by most people should be left wondering “how can that help me”. And it doesn’t help them. Especially since so much on the internet is classified as “Social media”.
Businesses need solid marketing and sales plans that can be enhanced with social media. They don’t need ooh ahh videos that contain a bunch of big numbers that will not help them. The rate at which facebook grew doesn’t matter to the average business.
If you’d been reading this blog since it began in 2003, you’d know that I’m a champion of integrated marketing. The average business needs, at the least, to be monitoring its brand 24/7 in social media. And I maintain that there no longer is such a thing as solid marketing and sales plans that don’t integrate social media.
That train left the station a long, long time ago.
