The Bush administration has pledged a stingy $35 million dollars to Southeast Asia’s tsunami relief. Are they kidding? The U.S. is spending $35 million every seven hours on the war in Iraq.
We can raise $35 million online in a day!
Let’s prove what America is made of. Let’s top Bush’s paltry $35 million with online donations to The Red Cross, Oxfam or through the donation database on The Southeast Asia Earthquake and Tsunami wiki.
We need to help. Today. More than 160,000 are dead from the disaster. They have no food, no water, no medicine, no way to even bury the dead. Send what you can. Do it now.
Is Bush Kidding? $35 Million Is Not Enough for Tsunami Relief! Let’s Prove That America is Not Stingy!

B.L., you might want to read (and consider linking to) Daniel Drezner’s thoughtful analysis of the “stinginess” flap, on his blog at http://www.danieldrezner.com/archives/001805.html
It’s well-researched (as is most of Drezner’s material) and considers both dollar amounts and percentage-of-GNP measurements.
Also, I just checked Amazon again (at 8:30 AM ET Friday morning) and the donations are now up over 7 million dollars, from more than 108 thousand people. The numbers climb substantially each time you refresh.
And now W is sending his brother Jeb to direct American aid efforts. Can’t wait to see the pictures from that photo op.
What will he wear? Flight suit? Cowboy hat? Will he carry a bullhorn? Those all worked great for his brother.
