NY Post columnist Liz Smith ranted for an entire column about how much she hates having PR people block access to their clients. She complained not only about celebrity-handling PR firms but also government and big business PR pros.
She pined for the days “Where the press once dominated publicists and treated them like slaves, the situation is reversed.” {Boooo hoo)
Smith expressed her fondness for the “good-old/bad-old days” when publicists had to supply four newstips in order to place one favorable item about a client.
She didn’t even mention the dynamics of dealing with no rules, snarky, beat-em-to-the story bloggers. I’m sure the very thought of what an unruly bunch we are is just too overwhelming for such an old school journo.
