While TV networks and big media websites exercised constipating caution about announcing results early, bloggers posted the numbers as they got them. Response was so big that both Dailykos and Wonkette crashed from heavy server traffic.
Slate reasoned that the public deserved to know as much as journalists did, as the news became available.
