Your points are simply about treating others in the way you want to be treated, and expecting others to do the same; exercising basic respect and good will to one another, like in the Golden Rule.
It’s very easy to “hit and run” in a blog, either in a post or in a comment. I’m wondering if sometime soon a group will put forth a list of standard practices and behaviors for what I call “blogdom”. I’m not aware of such a standard yet.
Excellent thoughts, and rules BL. I respect your comment policy, and as in all forms of communications, there must be guidelines. This is a great process, and yes, for the most part I believe a self regulated media. Does the New York Times check all their facts?
But I digress…
Keep up the great work and blogging. Maybe someday Microsoft will recognize blog, blogs and blogging as words in their Spell Checker.
But I digress.
In my opinion all blogs are relatively clean, correct, neat and tidy. This helps elevate the medium, and I am always impressed with the expresions of creativity and the sparkling presentations. Oh yes, and they are very informing. Opinions galore.
Great post. The real issue is that blogging really helps to make the web is an open forum and since anyone can post content, who polices the quality and validity of the content. Sine there are really no blogging police it is up to the owners of the blog to try to not only research the content they post and ensure that it meets the kind of standards they would hold anyone teaching them to, but also to police the comments that are place on their blogs because those become a part of the content.
That phrase “I will not publish” tells me that you’re paying extra-close attention to your blog, B.L. And that is a good thing. (Yup, there’s another Martha using the phrase ” a good thing.)
Your care about what shows up in the comments is refreshing. I’ve visited way too many blogs where the comments aren’t moderated, and, oh, boy, do they need moderation!
Three cheers for your quality control.
