I think you could argue that Oliver Stone’s film WTC is already a 9/11 soap opera. If you want a TV example, I thought there was a lot of 9/11 soapiness in the last year or two of Third Watch, culminating in the episode where a paramedic goes on a shooting spree in the firehouse, killing a fire department captain. It was good soap, but it was still soap, if you know what I mean.
Geez, I miss that show.
