Technorati, which now tracks 11.1 million sites and 1.1 billion links, has launched a new public beta.
Nice job, but please can this ugly little screaming guy. Like most bloggers, I look at Technorati 10 times a day or more, and sure don’t look forward to seeing this hysterical little person every time. Can’t you make him cute?
Technorati seems to be trying to make itself accessible to more than geeks and bloggers, and that’s a good idea. They now describe themselves as “a real-time search engine that keeps track of what is going on in the blogosphere — the world of weblogs.”
They also have Google ads on the site, so they can have another revenue stream. I bet that means they’ll soon be open to other advertising — part of the trend toward ads on blogs.

BL – Or go to yubnub.org and just type “tec bl ochman” to do a technorati search for bl ochman. YubNub was my entry for the 2005 Ruby on Rails 24-hour programming contest.
What, you mean you have a thing against skinny long-necked dudes?
Actually, I like skinny long necked dudes. It’s hysterically screaming with their eyes bulging out dudes that I have a problem with.
Jonathan: yubnub is incredibly cool.
Thank you!
