A recent study of 15-25 year-olds shows that political candidates trying to use the Internet to win support from young voters should use interactive media like Internet chats and blogs where people can voice their opinion, and avoid pop-ups and banner ads.
Don’t get too close however: 69% said they would be less likely to pay attention to a candidate who sent weekly text messages to their cell phone or hand helds. This despite the fact that text messaging is a favorite way for young people to communicate with eachother.

“There’s no question that young people, probably more than any other subset of voters, want to be listened to, not talked to,” Michael Cornfield, research director for the Institute for Politics, Democracy and the Internet at the George Washington University, told the Washington Post.
