Can’t wait to hear Leno and Letterman on this one. Another blockbuster drug is under fire as the FDA is investigates reports of blindness among Viagra and Cialis users. AP reports that, upon release of this news, Pfizer shares fell in early trading on the New York Stock Exchange. Talk about a brewing PR nightmare.
Of course, Viagra’s label also warns of erections lasting longer than four hours, painful erections lasting longer than six hours, headache, flushed skin and vision problems. Yet sales were $438 million in the first quarter of the year. Pfizer has a 68 percent worldwide market share.
So, PR people, what would you do if this happened to your client? (The FDA report, not going blind.)
