An MTV press release on PR Newswire announced that MTV’s “Choose or Lose 2004” campaign is partnering with both the Democrats and the Republicans who are each holding essay contests to find 18-24 year-old speakers for their upcoming conventions. The winners will “most accurately represent the views and concerns of their party and age group.”
The problem is: you have to be Sherlock Holmes to find the link to Choose or Lose on MTV’s home page. Neither “Choose or Lose” or “essay contest” comes up in a search on the site’s home page.
Each contest requires a 300-word essay. The Republican contest is called “Stand Up and Holla!” The Democratic National Convention essay contest is “Speak Out for the
Future.”
They should also have a prize for finding the contests.
