Early this morning, as I was walking into Central Park with Benny Bix, our reverie was interrupted by a homeless man sitting on a bench wearing a t-shirt and no pants. Poor man smelled really awful but looked pretty harmless, yet, as countless incidents have proven, that’s not always true.
So I called 911. I described where he was sitting and what he was doing, gave my phone number and said goodbye. A few minutes later, the 911 operator called me to ask if I could give a better description of his clothes. So I told her about the black t-shirt again, noting that there were not a lot of other guys wearing that particular outfit this morning. Thank you she said. And about 5 minutes later, we were long gone, and sirens were heard.
