One in five of 21 million online American teens have a blog; and one in five remix others’ digital material into their own creations, according to a new Pew Internet & American Life Project report.
Nineteen percent of online teens have blogs and 38 percent read them according to the report
About 62 percent of blog-reading teens solely read friend’s blogs while 36 percent read postings from both friends and blog authors they don’t know.
They have highly tuned BS meters
What do they blog about? They share artwork, videos, stories and content they find online. That means that using the Internet is second nature and that technical skills are innate.
Clearly, blogs can be a very effective way to reach these 12 million teens, but they also have highly tuned bullshit meters and won’t put up with obvious sales pitches.
