I know you don’t want to hear it. You can’t face one more hung chad. But I don’t have a choice. As a journalist examining that messy sausage called American democracy, it’s my job to tell you who got the most votes in the deciding states. Tuesday, in Ohio and New Mexico, it was John Kerry.

Why? Um, because they lost? Do you seriously think if the Dems really, *really* thought they had been cheated that Kerry would not have Unleashed The Lawyers From Hell to do their worst?
No, he did not do that because not only did Shrub win the electoral collage, he also won the popular vote, not by much, but he did it by a ‘lawyer proof’ margin.
Look, may not be a happy result but that is no excuse to see what amounts to ‘Black Helicopters’ and act as if there are going to be Brown Shirts on the streets because that is not what is going to happen. Time to deal with it and move on.
I agree with ‘Snide’s comment- Kerry lost.
Distorting the facts, or spinning them your way is going to be less and less tolerated, or at least less powerful.
But if anyone wants to leave the country because of that, good riddance- welcome to democracy- sometimes you don’t like what the majority wants.
You might guess, I backed Bush- but I almost expected us to lose- and I knew that regardless of who lost, the loser would be scratching their head and bemoaning the state of the union… c’est la vie.
I’d suggest you join with the democrats who are already more constructively figuring out what they can learn from this and how to move forward. democrats can contribute some things that republicans don’t emphasize enough, particularly environmental initiatives, and these things can be ‘sold’ even to the religious right (of which I am one) if you know how to say it.
