I love Tom’s Shoes! In fact, I just bought a red pair. They’re only $38 and they come in lots of colors and patterns including some limited edition, hand-painted ones ($68).
I bet new media visionary and shoe painter extraordinaire Howard Rheingold would love to paint a pair!
With every purchase, the company gives a free pair to indigent children in Argentina. Many had never had shoes before. Tom’s gave away 8,000 pair in the last six months, according to the site.
Founder, shoe designer and “chief shoe giver” Blake Mycoskie’s blog has videos and the company story.
Giving back is definitely a trend, but this is the most extraordinary example I’ve seen online. Bravo!
Go buy some Tom’s Shoes!!!!

That is good to see. We like an example where we can’t be cynical no matter how hard we try. There aren’t many. Way to go Tom!
