If you run a Bed & Breakfast or any travel-related company, site, or service submit to Yahoo’s new travel service Yahoo! Fairchase now, if you site is accepted, you won’t have to pay the normal $300 charge for [directory] inclusion. I bet travel sites that have paid for Yahoo! inclusion aren’t too thrilled. Here’s the reason, according to the Yahoo! Fairchase site.

Too nice to be true. But unfortunately, Yahoo! Farechase only accepts major travel and lodging sites for inclusion in their search feeds. There is no way, Yahoo! Farechase will spyder individual hotel websites for rates – at least not for the moment. So if you are an individual property, you have to go for the US$ 300 deal. markus
Actually, I met with two representatives of Yahoo! Fairchase in Philadelphia recently, and they told me that they were encouraging free inclusions from as many interesting sites as they could get — and not just major brands. They weren’t particularly thrilled that I would blog about it. :>)
The $300 fee is only for the Directory inclusion, not for search inclusion. Search inclusion is free if you just build up some linkage data.
Most travel sites I have seen are greed driven garbage though and probably would not qualify for free anything.
I meant Directory inclusion. I corrected my post. That is what they told me at the meeting and that is what you can get without paying the $300.

Yahoo Farechase gives really interesting results for Europeans. I looked for return tickets Brussels – Barcelona. The cheapest tickets were from Iberia, but still two times more expensive than the tickets from Vueling which was not listed in the SERPS. The most interesting flight takes you from Amsterdam to Barcelona via Newark (!) and Madrid for a mere $3400. ;-))
Price differences are normal in a market with open competition. It’s up to the buyers to find the lowest prices available
