See that sign in the middle of the photo? We didn’t. That’s because it was BEHIND the cashiers at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square theatre where we saw the (excellent) Al Gore movie on Saturday. The sign says that a preview of the Oliver Stone exploitation movie, “World Trade Center” will be shown before “An Inconvienant Truth.”
This is America. We choose what we want to see and hear in theaters. I don’t want to see any films about 9/11. I was there. The sounds and the images of 9/11 are permanently etched in my memory. And yet, suddenly, there was the sound track of the worst experience of my life, and by time I ran out of the theatre, I’d heard almost a minute of it.
If you bought your tickets online, there was NO SIGN at the ticket machines. This is the worst type of insensitivity to New York sensibilities and to those of us who are 9/11 survivors.
Hey Loew’s! This is America. Customers Choose What They WIll See. Not Movie Theaters.

I agree with you, I feel the same. We were there also. It seems those types of movies or documentaries have a Hollywood smell to it and NOTHING can convey what happened there nor what happened as we sat trapped endlessly in NYC…
As far as I am concerned, that movie is great for thrill seekers and people who want to get a glimpse of what happened but don’t force it on me. I still smell that smell on 9-11 that night when the wind was blowing up North.
I know what you mean about the smell. It was death. Nothing else could ever smell like that.
Fortunately, I wasn’t near New York, Pennsylvania or the Pentagon on 9/11. However, like you, I have no desire to relive any part of that day, especially when I have paid money (lots of money these days!) to watch a movie. When I went to see the Inside Man, I saw the trailer for Flight 93 and wasn’t happy about that. The flip side is that studios need to preview their movies somehow – maybe in cases of 9/11 movies they could flash a notice on the screen during the previews announcing that a trailer for x movie will show immediately following whatever movie you have paid to see. That way, if you want to see it, you can stay – if not you can be out of the theatre before it starts.
