Today is Joan Miro’s birthday, and Google’s logo celebrates his art.
Dennis Hwang is a graphic artist who lives in Korea, designs the Google logos on special days and also is google’s international webmaster, esponsible for managing all Google’s international site content.
I wonder how Hwang decides who/what to celebrate?
UPDATE, via Johnny C..: San Jose Mercury News reports:
“The Artists Rights Society, a group that represents the Miro family and more than 40,000 visual artists and their estates, had asked Google to remove the image early this morning. … the family of Joan Miro was upset to discover elements of several works by the Spanish surrealist incorporated into Google’s logo. Google has since taken the logo off its site.”
Ooops!
Hey BL,
Read your e-news all the time.
Seems like the Google logo novelty is annoying a few people…

I thought the google signature was brilliant yesterday ! Long Live Miro! Subtle and NO self-promotion. He could probably do a differnt one every day if he had the time. It is an entertaining and fun diversion. A good reason to google every day?
