The New York Times reports that Squawk and Milou, left, are among several long-time gay couples at the Central Park penguin house. Zookeepers even gave one male couple a fertile egg to hatch and reported that they did an admirable job raising Tango, keeping her warm and feeding her food from their beaks until she could go out into the world on her own. Apparently, although this type of behavior in penguins, dolphins and most species of animals was observed as early as 1700, scientists have been hesitant to write about it because they fear their own sexuality might be questioned. So if I write about scientists, does that make me one?
