It sounds like a magic trick one of my nephews might do — turning a red paper clip into a house. And it wouldn’t be surprising if the house was made with Legos, or paperclips, or popsicle sticks. But blogger Kyle MacDonald really traded one red paperclip for a house.
“I started with one red paperclip on July 12 2005 and 14 trades later, on July 12, 2006 I will trade with the Town of Kipling Saskatchewan for a house located at 503 Main Street.”
A South African paper called MacDonald a slacker. I call him a homeowner.
Still think bloggers can’t make money?
My favorite blog comment: Jaysey on MySpace says:
“Why didn’t I think of this??
I’m a smart girl…I know I’ve got a “big idea” in here somewhere! Now, I just have to dig it out…”
I was quite impressed by this story too. Who knew a KISS snowglobe would be in such demand as to entice Corbin Bernsen to give up a role in his film (and the publicity doesn’t hurt either :) ) – The role was the final step to the house. I thought you might be interested in Tom Locke’s quest from a few months back. He wrote to a number of companies to see if he could get $39 of free stuff and chronicled the experiment on http://www.the39dollarexperiment.com/.
