I just bought a new Dell PC so I’m not likely to buy a MAC right now. But it’s incredibly impressive that Steve Jobs can tell the world with absolute certainty that Tiger, the new MAC operating system will be released on Friday April 29. Current MAC owners can upgrade to the new system for $129.
Microsoft, on the other hand, has no idea when Longhorn will be out or exactly what it will do. And if you want to upgrade a Windows PC to a new operating system, you’re in for nightmares — if the switch from Windows 95 to 98 and 98 to 2000 is any indication (and I bet it is.)
I can’t help being impressed by Apple’s marketing and the incredible enthusiasm of MAC heads. If only they could make iPod headphones that don’t suck.
And hey! Messrs Gates and Jobs: where are your blogs?

Mac faithful pay a price ($$) for loyalty and always will. My hardware costs much more than my wife’s (Dell) does and always will, but her computing experience with XP isn’t anywhere close to the elegance and functionality of the Panther OSX version, and is a universe away from what Tiger (10.4) is going to offer. That said, I do a little work on her computer from time to time, and it’s certainly better than it was five years ago. Both the Dells and Macs are reliable and deliver good value. With the OS advances we’re now seeing, computing will only get easier and we’ll all get more done in less time.
I’m learning about blogging right now and will introduce a blog/podcast later this year for the business market. Your feed is one of several that I read daily to build my knowledge of this medium. Keep up the good work.
