A new contest from Starbucks asks “How would you change the world? Tell us, and you could attend the Starbucks Earthwatch Expedition to Costa Rica”.
Prizes for the best essay or video are a three-day Expedition to Costa Rica to work as part of an Earthwatch Institute research team and a Nokia Nseries video phone to photograph, shape, and share the experience.
Twenty winners will work at Coope Tarrazú, a coffee cooperative in central Costa Rica to analyze factors crucial to coffee farmers and encourage more sustainable farming practices. Two of them will be members of the social network, Gather, which is cross-promoting the contest.
Excellent all around! More marketers need to think about cross promoting. This kind of cooperation is simple and effective, but vastly under-utilized in social media.
