This is the third sentence of the email pitch from hell I received this morning from some flack or another. The complete, unchanged content follows, but there’s no reason to read it:

2005’s groundbreaking “Neon Nights Electric Lives,” recorded for the late Tarantulas Records– spearheaded by the members of Boston revivalist punk band, The Explosion– the band saw rave reviews from underground and mainstream press all over the world. Many declared singer/guitarist Andrew Paley the second coming of Peter Gabriel, minus the tantra, or the perfect answer to Swervedriver and My Bloody Valentine battling it out with stereo-chorus sound-effects and a Pro-Tools rig.

Many declared singer/guitarist Andrew Paley the second coming of Peter Gabriel, minus the tantra, or the perfect answer to Swervedriver and My Bloody Valentine battling it out with stereo-chorus sound-effects and a Pro-Tools rig. The record was, in short, stunning. After shows with some of the biggest names in rock, from AFI (Jade Puget even makes a cameo on Electic Lives) to Interpol to Hot Hot Heat to Thursday, the band was left without a label to release their next masterpiece, after the demise of Tarantulas. ReIgnition is now pleased to annouce that The Static Age’s next opus will see the light of day worldwide on September 19th, 2006. The band will also gear up to start touring their backsides off, so be sure and check them out– you will not want to miss this potent mix of rock energy, reggae rhythms, shoegazer beauty, and everything else in between. As the venerable Status Magazine says: “The Static Age draw from three decades of independent music to create terse, melodic dark wave pop that sits entirely outside of current revivals and trends.” There you have it. Check ReIgnition Recordings for frequent updates including samples of the album for your listening pleasure. Cover art, track list, and press photos are up there as well. In the meantime, check out the band’s home on the web at their Myspace page (www.myspace.com/thestaticage). REEL BIG FISH and ZOLOF THE ROCK & ROLL DESTROYER HARD AT WORK ON SPLIT CD!
