Big Bird needs your help. This time it’s for real.
An email about cuts to NPR and PBS funding has gone around the Internet for years.
Tomorrow (Thursday) a real vote on the cuts — 25% of the Federal funding — with all funding ending in two years, will be voted on by the House Appropriations Committee. MoveOn is trying to deliver a petition with 400,000 signatures to the committee members. In a clear testimony to MoveOn’s power to move its membership to action, they’ve already got 85% of the signatures on the petition, which has been online for only three days.
Sign the petition or say goodbye to Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and Oscar the Grouch.

UPDATE June 15, midnight:”We’ve achieved 118% of our 500,000 goal (594,425)!” New goal is 600,000 by Thursday morning.
