FireFox is approaching 10% market share — a significant milestone in its bid to steal thunder away from Microsoft’s de-facto industry standard browser, Internet Explorer, according to NetApplications, a seller of Web-based measurement applications.

I understand these figures come from NetApplications monitoring of some 40,000 websites and the traffic to them – but do we know anything about the sites they monitor?
Are they, for example, mainly in the US? Are they consumer sites? Or technical sites?
I run a non-technical B2B site in the UK and our current figures show just 1.9% Firefox penetration.
I don’t dispute these figures at all – but I guess what I’m saying is that I think it will be a long time before Firefox gets 8% of the corporate market (though I hope I’m wrong!)
You’re right, we don’t know the real basis of their numbers. But they did prove that the trend for Firefox is up. And that’s a good thing.
