Operation Hero Miles is a program started by Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger, [D-MD] that allows citizens to donate unused frequent flyer miles from almost any airline so servicemen and women in Iraq can come home on R&R or emergency leave. Operation Hero Miles was approved by both the House and Senate. As part of the 2005 Defense Appropriations Bill, it will create a special office in the department of defense to accept the donated miles and facilitate their distribution. Got unused miles?
