He says Technorati and others tracking links to a blog are missing the more important dynamic — how engaged are the blog’s readers? We’ve got more conversation than posts, for whatever it’s worth.

This is true, but what about the lurker factor?
If your readers value your content but are in the early stages of blogging and are reticent to join the conversation.
Sigh, there’s an exception to every rule. But lurkers would grow in number in non-consumer, non-tech blogs…there have to be at least five of those, right? lol
