bmw_comics.png.jpgBMW of North America, which scored big PR with its online film series, The Hire, has created branded entertainment comic books starring the films’ main character, Driver.
Like the films, the comics are done by top artists,
with Matt Wagner (Grendel) writing and drawing the just-released first comic, “Scandal,” in which the Driver is hired to sneak a rich man’s spoiled daughter out of town. The project is handled by BMW’s ad agency, Publicis Groupe’s Fallon, Minneapolis. For more information about books check this out.
Each installation of the comic book series features a single model vehicle that’s recognizable as a BMW, but purposely futuristic. Interestingly, AdAge [subscription required] reports, BMW, not the artists, get royalties from sales of the comics, which are available online and in 300 specialty stores nationwide.
Hey! Where’s Driver’s blog?
