The BBC has announced that it will launch a new service, called MyBBCRadio, that allows listeners to take control and create their own personalized content. It will combine various services already offered by the British network, such as podcasts and Internet radio options like their on-demand iPlayer service.
FMQB says The BBC’s online offerings have been a hit in the U.K., with 4.5 million podcasts downloaded in May alone, according to their figures. And 20 million hours of online BBC programming was listened to. in March.
A member of the adrants forum says: “I’m thinking that this type of thing will soon be everywhere. Consumer radio, consumer nightclubs,… consumer ad agencies perhaps….Might be interesting times ahead (as long as we can avoid a few things like consumer dentistry, surgery, etc.)
