Pete Lerma writes in ClickZ “It’s past time we online ad professionals used blogs to contribute to campaign efforts.”
As we wrote a year ago, the reason more advertisers don’t advertise on blogs is “Fear, ignorance and the knowledge that a lot of pioneers got shot.”
Don’t forget: a lot of smart pioneers snapped up the best land and established themselves there long before the Gold Rush and the railroads drove others to what had once been the wilderness.
The Up Your Budget Treasure Hunt campaign, which we conceived and are directing for Budget Car Rental, has spent a paltry sum, by traditional ad standards, to advertise on 76 influential blogs, many with small but responsive numbers of readers. Nonetheless, blog advertising has been our biggest referrer to the campaign, which has gone viral and attracted remarkable traffic in under a month.
