When I was a young boy I worked as a page for Cong. Adam Clayton Powell, one of the architects of the march on Washington. The Congressman knew I was an artist, so when Jet Magazine asked his office if they could recommend an illustrator to portray Rev. King's speech in pebbleboard so the dotted image could be transmitted over the wires to Chicago for publication the next day, I got the job. A small part of history. The link you provided and the wonderful video on YouTube did more than bring a tear and lump in my throat. In one of the crowd scenes I got to see myself on the steps madly sketching away. For years, whenever historic footage would be aired, I would search for a glimpse of my past. Not until today had my search been rewarded. Thank you so much for returning a precious moment from my past.

i thought the video was very moving, but had no idea it would lead to so personal a connection.
