Happy Jewish New Year Senorita

5768.pngA friend of mine was shopping in Macy's yesterday. He thanked the sales associate for helping him and noticed that her name tag said "Rosenberg." So he said, "By the way, Ms. Rosenberg, Happy New Year."

"What do you mean?" she asked. He explained that since Rosenberg is a Jewish name and this is the Jewish New Year, he figured she might me celebrating the holiday.

"Oh no," she explained. "Rosenberg is my first name, my mother just liked that name."

"Well what is your last name?" he asked. "Perez," she said.

Shana Tova.

True story: I was taking a class last month, and one of my fellow students had a very interesting first name. So, I asked Raython what nationality his name represented. His reply? "My mom made it up."
