What Fools These Mortals Be: Wigs for Dogs

dogwig.pngFor the past 50 years, Ruth Regina has been doing hair and make-up for film and TV stars from Jackie Gleason to Demi Moore, Judy Garland to Kate Moss.

And now, for some mis-guided reason, she is making wigs for dogs

According to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, $40.8 billion will be spent on pets this year in the U.S.

But that's no excuse for either this really dumb product or its outrageously clunky website.

When I showed this poor dog to Benny Bix Ochman Labradoodle Puppy, who is a crazy alpha-male, he was outraged. "Bad enough my last haircut made me look like a damn poodle," he said.

And, says Dr. Stephen Zawistowski, exec vp of the ASPCA, "...there are better products for enjoying the company of your pets."
