Internet Pioneer Marc Andreessen Launches a New Blog

timecover.pngMarc Andreessen, a co-founder of Netscape, former CTO of AOL, and currently co-founder and CTO of the business networking site Ning, was blogging as long ago as 1993. He's just launched pmarcablog.com a blog about technology, business, media and his companies.

Andreessen, What's New site, in 1993, was a first incarnation of blogs, filled with the news of that exciting time. No comments, no trackbacks, but bloggy nonetheless.

Yes the What's New pages of Tim Berners-Lee and of Marc Andreessen are the first two blogs in history.

Their blogs started as simple notifications of new developments in the computer and internet world. Link archiving/dissemination, with brief commentary.

Later, more elaborate remarks were made in blogs, and comments, etc. were enabled. According to Rebecca Blood's history, early bloggers were combative, aggressive, mouthy, critical, harsh, disruptive, non-conformist, anti-commercial hype, bold, accusatory...er, like Vaspers.
