Skype Lawyers Writing Manual for Bad PR?

Skype lawyers have sent a cease and desist letter to Jan Geirnaert, telling him his popular blogs, skype-watch.com and skype-gadgets.com put him in legal joepardy.

He removed his blogs, saying "I'm not a sadomasochist. Neither am I an idiot. By doing this, Skype sent me the signal not do any of this blogging wise, business wise, in any way."

Robert Scoble says, "the lawyers at Skype screwed the pooch."

I don't know why anyone would put a company name in their URL, but it's been abundantly clear that Geirnaert wasn't hostile to Skype. So once again, lawyers have bullied a blogger into submission and hurt a brand. Pretty dim on Skype's part to let that happen.

Stupid. As long as this guy isn't trying to pass his site off as "official" Skype communication -- or being unfairly hostile toward Skype (not just hostile, but *unfairly* so) -- this is just stupid.
