NYC Orchid Show Photos Taken With the Nikon D80

These are two of the first photos I've taken with the Nikon D80 camera loaned to me by the Nikon blogger outreach program. You can see more of them here on flickr.

I have a long way to go to learn all the features of the camera. I shot 300 pictures at the New York City Orchid Show the other day. All of these were shot on automatic. Now I have to learn how to run it manually because it's a digital SLR and it's silly to run it on automatic when it will practically make your coffee is you want it to.

I used to do lots of black & white photography and printing, so need to hone up on my skills again - which are forgotten since I've used only digital cameras for a couple of years. You definitely sacrifice art for convenience, and I am anxious to get back to making photogaphs from scratch.
