Is Twitter a Fad? Like Blogging? Ha Ha!

twitter.pngTwitter is all the rage and the queen of the prom at South by Southwest. The hype is getting on my nerves. But I'm addicted to Twitter anyhow.

In case you haven't tried it yet, Twitter is a online community for people to post via IM, phone, web browser, or custom made mac application like Twitterrific of what they are doing. Friends can follow and converse with each other.

Brendon Connor at Slacker Manager has a list of ways to optimize use of Twitter, which is fast becoming all the rage among the geek elite.

Besides networking and sharing ideas, Twitter has enormous relevancy to marketing and can be useful for on-the-fly surveys; product previews; contests; and lots more.

Just as many said (and some Luddites still say) that blogging was a fad and a waste of time, people are already saying that about Twitter. But, until it fills with spam, Twitter is a fast way to stay in touch and learn about what the trends are. And yes, you can add one more thing to your day.

I don't know about you, but I have too many feeds in my RSS reader and I have a hard time keeping up with them all, not to mention the email newsletters and other stuff I am obsessive about reading. But unlike all of those, Twitter is quick, short, and to the point. It has to be when you have only 140 characters per post.

And, it's fun.
