Radio Shack Employees: The Company's Just Not That Into You
What's worse than breaking up with someone by email? Firing them by email.
And that's just what Radio Shack did to more than 400 employees at its Texas headquarters last week. The company apparerently didn't think taking the rug out from under employees, many of whom had been with the company for years, was worth any investment of executive face time.
"Unfortunately for the bosses, they chose to send the emails on the regular crappy, disfunctional Radio Shack computers, so the “you’re fired” messages actually read, %6*& - dKrj"."
Brett Arends at the Boston Herald pointed out that,
six months ago, when the company kicked out its CEO, David Edmondson after he admitted he'd lied on his resume, they gave him early access to certain options and restricted stock, a payoff . . . of $975,000, and $57,962 cash for “unused vacation.”
