American Airlines to 'Path to 9/11' Producers: That Was US Airways, You Jackasses

As if just being right wing propaganda wasn't bad enough, Amercan Airlines is threatening to pull all its millions of dollars in advertising from ABC TV because the docudrama Path to 9/11 confused them with US Airways.

Despite what it said in the fictional program, it wasn't American Airlines personnel at all that allowed terrorist Mohammed Atta on the plane; it was US Airways personnel. And it didn't happen in Boston, it happened in Maine. This is all clearly documented in the 9/11 Commission's report, says Consumerist.

Unfortunately we are still talking about ABC who is rejoicing at this event. With their abismally low viewer ratings, finally people are paying attention to that network.

I guess for ABC, negative publicity is better than none.

The way we are going, we will not only stop reading newspapers within 5 to 10 years but TV.

Then again, who am I to say. I dropped my TV 3 years ago and I am not missing anything apparently.

I watched the show - and it's compelling and interesting - better than most miniseries. Was it your intention to start a factual discussion on the merits of the movie?

Simply calling the movie right wing propaganda seems a bit unfair, as you don't explain your reasoning or provide background to your political views. Urging readers to sign a MoveOn.org petition (a far left-wing organization built on propoganda) also seems a but out of place - is it your intent to take this blog towards political discussion?

As far the 9/11 commission report, do you think it was itself objective? How do you explain people like Jamie Gorelick on the panel?

You write a business blog. Do you think it wise for your corporate customers to follow your example and cover hot political issues?

Would you recommend the use of descriptions like "right wing propoganda" into a business blog post?

Jim: If you've read this blog for any period of time (an average week would do) you'd know that I make my political views quite clear. I am a member of the media committee of MoveOn.org. And I will continue to include my opinions in this blog. You can choose to read them or not.

I also am a World Trade Center survivor. There is no need to add any docudrama to the events of the day.

It's not my intention to tell you what to write on your blog - and for the record, I subscribed to your e-mail updates, instead of reading the blog or catching the RSS.

I subscribed because you seemed to have a lot of good things to say about business blogging.

It's why it was surprising to see politics popping into my e-mail.

Jim: The email from What's Next Blog is simply the last two days' posts from the blog, not different content.

I write a lot about business blogging and beyond, but I never hide my opinions.
