Post-Pluto Mnemonic Contest Winners Announced

pluto.jpgWhen Pluto was officially kicked out of the solar system yesterday, publishers of suddenly outdated science textbooks, encyclopedias, and posters of the solar system undoubtedly licked their chops. Jason Kottke and Meg Hourihan decided to hold a competition for a Post-Pluto meomonic for the planets.

The winner: My! Very educated morons just screwed up numerous planetariums.( Josh Mishell)

Great runners-up include:

Many Very Earnest Men Just Snubbed Unfortunate Ninth Planet (Dave Child)

"My vision, erased. Mercy! Just some underachiever now." (Delia, as spoken by Pluto discoverer Clyde Tombaugh)

Most vexing experience, mother just served us nothing! (Bart Baxter)

The old mnemonic:

The planets in our solar system (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto): "My very elegant mother just served us nine pizzas"

Got one to add?
