Is Technorati Broken? Yes!

As I've noted many times, Technorati doesn't work very well. John Koetsier at
Bizhack asks "Is Technorati Broken?" and then lists all the very clear indicators that it is, including:
Number Weirdness
Link Weirdness
Missing Link Weirdness
Trackback Weirdness

Instead of worrying about the next Blah Blah Blogosphere report, Technorati ought to make its software reliable.

Ok, now let's see if this post shows up in my links any time soon.

yes technorati sucks but thank heaven for small mercies and that you don't need to rely on google blog...

I too have noticed some peculiarities regarding the reports I view on my own blogs at technorati.

It could be broken, but I don't claim to know enough about how it is supposed to work to say one way or another.

I don't think that it is a good idea to rely too heavily on any internet based service that is not specifically designed to perform analytics in order to measure blogging effectiveness.

Typically, I recommend to any blogger who is seeking to accomplish any communications objective to use an independent analytics solution that will show you the stats you need to understand how well you are accomplishing your objectives.

Nothing yet, BL.

True enough. Links appear and disappear - ghost links appear and disappear, and worst of all I can be blogrolled by someone and it's never registered. Just try blogrolling me and see what doesn't happen!

really, the worst thing is their customer service -- there is none. they don't even make the pretense of trying to help

i emailed them twice in the past two weeks about an issue. they wanted to know if i have a paid license, i do and i sent the receipt number.

have you heard back from them? Me either.

someone will come along and do it right. and then they'll be history. soon, i hope. man, if i had a pile of money, i'd do it.

nah! if i had a big pile of money I'd be breeding Labradoodles, and boarding and training dogs on a farm. :>)
