No More Gaping Void

me_hugh_adriana1.jpgBy B.L. Ochman Hugh Macleod and I have been skyping, phoning and working together for years. But there had been a gaping void in our relationship: we'd never met in person. That changed last week while I was in London and had dinner with Hugh and Adriana Cronin of Big Blog Company. We had some good laughs, and the cartoons Hugh was doing through the evening (like this one) have since appeared on his blog.

After a wonderful sushi dinner, Hugh and I met up with Stormhoek Wine's Jason Korman. I don't drink, but Jason suggested that I make an "I don't drink" dinner one of the 100 geek dinners in 100 days promoting Stormhoek. I might even take him up on it.

One of the many things I love about blogging is the wonderful people I've met through my blogs. There's a camaraderie between bloggers that is reminiscent of the 60s Love Ins, when the way you dressed was a good enough introduction for another hippie to bring you home for dinner. Although our ideas run the gamut, we bloggers identify ourselves by sharing a format. As soon as I saw Hugh's first post, I knew I had to talk to him. And last week, for some weird reason, meeting him brought to mind Madeline Kahn's immortal line in "Blazing Saddles" after Cleavon Little leaves: "What a nice guy."
