President Bush, in His Charming English-Challenged Style, Acknowledges Blogs as Communication Catalyst

bush-mediacoverage.jpgAfter President Bush gave his Iraq speech in West Virginia yesterday, audience member Gayle Taylor asked the president's advice about how to get the media to do more reporting about the good news in Iraq. Here's the English-challenged response of the leader of the free world:

One of the things that we have to value is that that we do have a media, free media that's able to do what they want to do and I - you ask me to say something in front of all the camera here [laughter]. Help over there will ya? I just got to keep talking and word of mouth, there's blogs, there's internet, there's all kinds of ways to communicate which is literally changing the way people get their information and so if you're concerned I would suggest that you reach out to some of the groups that are supporting the troops, that got internet sites and just keep the word moving.

Bush famously avoids the news, so Condi or Andrew Card must have told him about blogs during one of his briefings.

Bloggers certainly have helped spread the word about the war. That's how the Abu Ghraib Prison Photos were exposed, that's how forbidden photos of wounded soldiers were made public; that's how reports of the real news from the front are being ru while the majority of MSM sleep.

Bonus Bush quote: "I understand war creates concerns," the president said. "Nobody likes war. It creates a sense of uncertainty in the country." Posted by B.L. Ochman

BL - A little dated on my response, but I did want to point out that conservatives have embraced blogging for quite awhile. It sort of started with Powerline (www.powerlineblog.com) and the CBS documents and has continued with reaching out to bloggers during the Alito hearings.
