Study: Internet Strengthens Social Ties. But You Ain't Seen Nothin Yet!

Despite dire predictions that sitting in front of the computer would turns us all into anti-social moles, the Internet actually strengthens social ties. "The Internet plays socially beneficial roles in a world moving toward "networked individualism." Email allows people to get help from their social networks and the web lets them gather information as they face important decisions," according to "The Strength of Internet Ties," a new study from Pew Internet & American Life Project.

About 60 million Americans say the Internet has played an important or crucial role in helping them deal with at least one major life decision in the past two years.

You ain't seen nothin yet! My 5 and 8 year-old niece and nephew have known how to type since they were two; the Internet is as natural to them as walking. The true impact of the Internet won't be seen until this generation grows up and takes over the world for real.

Hard to imagine, isn't it, that there are still companies wondering if they should sell their products and services online!
