The search titans are battling to see who can build the best blog search engine. Blog search betas from Yahoo! News and Google herald the acceptance of citizen journalism on a very broad scale.
Yahoo's results combine traditional media sources with "citizen journalism" from blogs and images from its Flickr photo sharing site. Results seem to begin 27 days ago.
According to Search Engine Watch, blog posts are drawn from those included in the My Yahoo feed directory, a collection in the "high hundreds of thousands" of blogs.
A blog/feed search is still anticipated from Yahoo!, so don't rule out their rumored purchase of Technorati.
The new Google blog search finds results in blogs' RSS feeds. Posts from blogs that don't have RSS feeds are not included.
