Six Feet Under Finale Sets Bloggers Buzzing

Six_Feet_Under.jpgWith the final episode (sniff) running Sunday, the Technorati tag "Six Feet Under" lists 66 blog posts. Sixty-seven with this one. But HBO missed the blog boat. Again.

On Pop Watch blog, fans speculate on the series' ending. And one commenter says "I don't know why the creators have decided to let the show die, I feel like I have lost my 2nd family." Me too! I haven't loved a TV show since the satirical satire "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman". And that was long, long time ago.

HBO's Six Feet Under site has a trivia game and all the usual fan stuff. But why aren't the characters blogging? They're all crazy enough to make perfect bloggers.

Get a hankie! You'll need it, for sure.
Gosh, I miss those Fishers already. But they'll live on.

It is interesting that the blogsphere has developed a common culture of sorts. I was also sad to see Six Feet Under go, however I didn’t realize that my interest in the series was shared by so many other bloggers. Today, the number one search on Technorati is for Six Feet Under. I knew that the series was popular, but the series seems to be hyper popular among bloggers. Are we all cut from a similar mold?

Wonderful how as things wrapped up, scene to scene, the screen would turn to white as if everything was been cleaned up. You even had to like frat-boy- "like my rebel sideburns?" Ted, when he talked Ruth into going inside at Brenda's. And Billy, literally talking poor Brenda to death in the end...am I dreaming or did she look relieved to finally escape her psychotic brother/lover? Not everything was answered...because new suspicions were raised as to why Maggie would be at the doctors office when Ruth called. Was Maggie pregnant? or did she already know that she was and was there to abort? That was a powerful scene and a subtle one at the same time. Loved the scene with Nate in white singing "I just want to celebrate"...it was like they finally all let go of the family stigma of Nate's death and moved on. As we all have to as well.
