Supremes: High Times Over for Medical Pot Smokers

pot.woman.jpgIn another decision that makes one wonder what they are smoking, the Supreme Court ruled that state medical marijuana laws don't protect users from a federal ban on the drug.

Looks like medical marijuana needs marketing. A blog from a trusted medical facility featuring case studies of medical pot users could help educate the public, and Congress, to whom the ultimate vote will fall. Medical marijuana helps people with a variety of conditions, including those undergoing chemotherapy, (like the woman at the left) to control nausea and pain.

I couldn't imagine being stoned at the best of times, let alone when I was sick. I don't see any reason this should be legalized.

From what I've read, peoople using medical marijuana are not using it to get high. It counteracts the very serious nausea of chemotherapy and other illnesses, and provides potent pain relief for a lot of people who don't want to use demerol or other pain relievers.

The point is, the decision should be between the patient and their doctor, not the patient and the Supreme Court.

I'm all for legalization, across the board, but it's hard to see how the Supremes could have reached a different decision. Federal law supersedes state law on interstate commerce issues, which was part of the issue here.

It probably wouldn't have made a difference in this case -- I doubt the Court is pot-friendly -- but the Court is bound by stare decisis... It cannot rewrite Federal law. And in this case, Federal law, as much as you and I don't like it, is legitimately written and signed.

Your best bet is to petition Schumer and Clinton... good luck... or move to Europe!

I will always favor the law that restricts people away from smoking and will never favor the one which gives them the right of smoking.

I think all people that don't smoke pot should stay out of the whole thing. If someone wants to smoke pot, there are alredy ways around the laws anyway, so it doesn't matter.

If everyone smoked marijuana the world would be a better place.

medical marijuana or the occasional joint.
that`s all.

What is the difference if someone smokes it for fun or for medical reason they should have the chose to do it if they want as long as people are not being stupid when they use it then everythign should be okay I think that the Government should leave them alone and dont worry about them they should be focusing on the big crimes that are happening out there in this world like the fucking war that we are in that we should have been out of months ago. WEED should be legalized again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
