Necco Conversation Hearts Sport Strange Sayings for V-Day 2005

Necco candy hearts have strange new sayings this Valentine Day. Someone in Necco marketing is watching too much sports on TV. The 2005 sayings are "#1 Fan, Fit for Love, Dream Team, Love Life, Be A Sport, Love My Team, Cheer Me On, Be My Hero, © Of Gold, and All-Star." Someone should explain to them that love is not a team sport.

The strangest, by far, and the least romantic, is "© Of Gold." To paraphrase Tina Turner, what's copyright got to do with it?

"Team spirit, sweet treats and Valentine’s Day go hand in hand," said Lory Zimbalatti, NECCO’s marketing manager and member of the team that chose the 2005 new Sweethearts candy sayings. This proves, once again, why there is no plaza on the planet with a monument to a committee.

The Necco conversation hearts date back to the 1880s, adding new sayings every year to fit the times.
